OVERNIGHT ANTARCTICA
For those who wish to extend their stay in King George Island,
going deeper into their experience of the White Continent, there
is the option to stay the night on Antarctic grounds before flying
back to Punta Arenas.
ANTÁRTICA OVERNIGHT
Para quienes quieran experimentar una estadía prolongada en
Isla Rey Jorge, profundizando la vivencia del Continente Blanco,
existe la opción de pasar la noche en tierra Antártica antes de
regresar a Punta Arenas.
Tras la llegada en avión Antarctic Airways, y visita a Villa Las Estrellas,
Isla Ardley, la Iglesia Rusa Ortodoxa de la Santa Trinidad y
otros atractivos del programa Full Day, los visitantes del programa
Overnight podrán pernoctar en un campamento acondicionado
para el extremo clima antártico junto al espectacular Glaciar
Collins, obteniendo una privilegiada vista del “atardecer” antártico
de verano. Al día siguiente, continuarán en su aventura, antes de
abordar el avión de vuelta a la capital de Magallanes.
DETALLE DE ACTIVIDADES*
- Visita a los puntos más atractivos de Isla Rey Jorge.
- Visita a “Villa las Estrellas” (Primer sitio habitado por civiles)
- Almuerzo o snack, dependiendo del lugar y hora de llegada.
- Navegación en bote tipo zodiac a Isla Ardley para visitar colonias
de Pingüinos y navegación en los alrededores del Glaciar
Collins.
- Visita a Iglesia Ortodoxa en Base Rusa “Bellingshausen”.
- Posterior a las actividades del primer día, los pasajeros serán
transportados a un campamento tipo “Ice Camp”, basado junto
al Glacial Collins, ubicado a 5 kms. de la pista de aterrizaje. El
“Ice Camp” consiste en una carpa principal térmica (módulo)
habilitada para comedor, una carpa térmica para higiene básica
y carpas térmicas en base a 2 personas cada una, para
el pernocte durante la noche.
- Al día siguiente se realizará una caminata a “La Elefantera”
para avistamiento de Elefantes Marinos y otras especies del
área.
- Visita a alguna Base Científica del área.
- Si las condiciones climáticas lo permiten, podemos visitar otras
áreas de interés antes de retornar a Punta Arenas.
After their arrival on board Antarctic Airways’ aircraft, and their visit
to Villa Las Estrellas, Ardley Island, the Russian Orthodox Church
of the Holy Trinity and other points of attraction in the Full Day
program, travelers of the Overnight program will stay the night on
a specially conditioned camp near the spectacular Collins Glacier,
capturing a privileged view of the summer Antarctic “sunset”. The
next day, they will continue their adventure, before taking off to
the capital of Magallanes.
DETAIL OF ACTIVITIES*
- Visit to the main attraction points of the area
- Villa Las Estrellas’ (First settlement inhabited by civilians)
- Lunch or a snack depending on the place and time of arrival.
- Navigation on a zodiac boat to Ardley Island to visit some penguin
colonies and navigation around Collins glacier.
- Visit to the Orthodox Russian Church (At Bellingshausen Station)
- After the first day activities are over, passengers will be taken
to the Ice Camp based on Collins glacier, located about 5 kms
(6 miles) from the runway, where they will stay overnight. This
Ice Camp includes a Thermic tent (module) as a dining room
for the whole group, one special tent as a basic toilette and
different small thermic and special tents (small modules) for
two people each one, to spend the night.
- The next day: Walk to the “Elefanteras” (sea elephant colony),
located in the Drake Passage Area.
- Visit to a Scientific Station
- It is also possible to visit other tourist attractions, depending on
the weather conditions, before returning to Punta Arenas.
