RUSSIA
Scotland is a team with strong connections
to the Sevens game with the sport
originating in the Scottish town of Melrose.
Despite their ties to the game, the Scots
have struggled to gain momentum in
past World Sevens Series, finishing 7th in
2014/2015. However, they have shown
promise in the initial stages of 2015/2016
series circuit where, despite some early
loses, they finished as runners-up in the
Bowl competition in Dubai and defeated
England in Cape Town to win the Bowl
Final in the second leg of the series circuit.
Currently ranked 10th in the World Series
standings, Scotland will be hoping to
secure more wins as the journey moves to
Wellington.

Russia secured their first win of the
2015/2016 World Sevens series at the
most recent leg of the circuit in Cape Town,
beating Portugal 38 - 5.
Currently sitting 14th on the World Series
leader board, the Russian team are 3
places ahead of last year when they
finished up 17th.
Placed in a tough pool for the Wellington
Sevens tournament, the Russian team will
be coming out all guns blazing and will be
determined to maintain their position on
the World Series ladder and improve on
last year.
