P w C’s Scholarship programme
welcomes 2016 applications
PwC’s ongoing scholarship programme,
currently supports eight students,
several having almost completed
their studies and well on their way to
becoming full-fledged members of
the firm. Kelsie Woodman-Bodden,
Matthew Guitard and Adah Grant are
the latest PwC scholarship recipients
and are delighted to have a formidable
body of support behind them when it
comes to their accounting studies and
future career paths.
Peter Small, PwC Human Capital
partner, says that the firm works closely
with all its scholarship recipients
throughout their studies to ensure that
the individual receives professional as
well as financial support.
“Our human capital team follows a
buddy system so that our recipients
always have someone at the firm with
whom they can discuss their studies.
We’re proud to have been recently
recognized globally by Universum as
the world’s most attractive professional
services firm employer for business
students.”
Suzanne Scott, a 2011 PwC scholarship
recipient, says, “Coming from two small
schools – Cayman Brac High School and
Elon University, I was given tremendous
support throughout my journey. I
wanted a work environment that would
mirror that support, and that’s exactly
what I’ve received at PwC. They were
with me every step of the way and I was
able to gain invaluable work experience
during my time as a scholarship student
that provided me with a foundation that
proved very helpful when I started full
time.”
Now, a Senior Associate in PwC’s
Assurance department, Suzanne says
being professionally qualified has
definitely opened doors for her. In
addition to gaining work experience
during holidays, Suzanne was also given
the opportunity to start with the firm as
an Associate in 2013 while sitting her
CPA examinations and was promoted to
Senior Associate in 2015.
“I would strongly encourage any young
Caymanian interested in accounting
to apply to PwC. My experience as
a scholarship student and now as a
fulltime employee has been amazing.
PwC isn’t only your place of work; the
firm also becomes your second family,
the amount of support and guidance I’ve
received over the past 5 years has been
instrumental in my growing career.”
Peter says that PwC is delighted to
be able to offer scholarships to such
enthusiastic and hardworking young
people and adds: “At PwC we want to
give back to the community and, at the
same time, build a solid future for the
firm. We feel that investing in people is
the best way to achieve both these goals.
It’s important for us to create leaders at
all levels of the business.”
PwC has been nurturing business
leaders of the future through the
scholarship programme for
more than 30 years. To find out more
