Interest in Environment Key<br />
Chynna Retumban, recipient of the 2014/2015 Water Authority <strong>Scholarship</strong>,<br />
is interviewed by <strong>Cayman</strong>27 while interning in the Authority’s laboratory.<br />
Most people are familiar with the first aspect of Water<br />
Authority – <strong>Cayman</strong>’s mission statement: To provide pure,<br />
wholesome and affordable drinking water to the entire<br />
population of the <strong>Cayman</strong> Islands. But did you know that the<br />
Authority is also responsible for protecting and developing the<br />
<strong>Cayman</strong> Islands’ groundwater resources? Or that the Authority<br />
also provides for the collection, treatment and disposal of<br />
sewage in the <strong>Cayman</strong> Islands?<br />
Every year, the Authority offers a scholarship of up to<br />
CI$30,000 to a suitably qualified <strong>Cayman</strong>ian to obtain an<br />
undergraduate academic or technical/vocational degree or<br />
diploma in a field of study relevant to the Authority’s work.<br />
Fields of study that are particularly relevant include:<br />
Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Civil<br />
Engineering, Hydrogeology, Mechanical Engineering,<br />
Wastewater Treatment, Water Resource/Supply Management,<br />
Reverse Osmosis Technology, Information Technology,<br />
Accounting, Finance, and Business Management. So, whether<br />
you see yourself in a lab coat or a hardhat, working in the field<br />
or at a desk, the Authority has a career path for you!<br />

have successfully transitioned into full-time Water Authority<br />
staff following the completion of their studies.<br />

variety of careers available in the water and wastewater utilities<br />
