Synopsis:<br />
Cheng’s neighbors, the little Lu brothers, anxiously await<br />
their father’s annual return from the coal mines. As New<br />
Years passes without a trace from the father, the brothers<br />
learn to handle disappointment while maintaining<br />
hope. Cheng’s older brother, Long, has grown frustrated<br />
of struggling and traveling from town to town looking for<br />
work. Cheng hopes to avoid a similar fate as his brother<br />
and secretly gets on a bus to embark on his long<br />
awaited adventure: to travel and work in the modern cities<br />
of China….<br />

Tianlin Xu 徐 天 琳<br />
Tianlin Xu is a Chinese filmmaker based in Germany, with an academic background in German<br />
studies and journalism. Before she found her passion for filmmaking, she worked as a coordinator for<br />
art and cultural projects in Beijing, a position which enabled her to be involved in the organization of a<br />
documentary film festival as well as the production of a feature film. These worthy experiences sparked<br />
her interest in exploring narrative documentary with a high level of her own aesthetic style.<br />
