ADA (Alcohol and Drugs Action) Vacancy for Sessional Youth Worker<br />
Since winning the 2015 Northern Star Business award for Outstanding Contribution to Society, things<br />
have been pretty busy for us at ADA. We’re always looking to develop our projects which help to affect<br />
change at a whole population level. This is where the Culture Changers project comes in.<br />
We’re recruiting Sessional Youth Workers to join the Culture Changers team to support the Development<br />
Worker with the project. Enthusiastic people who can hit the ground running. Self-starters with a passion<br />
for Youth Work.<br />
If you believe that you can motivate young people and encourage them to become active members of their community, we’d<br />
love to hear from you. You’ll need experience of working with young people and be comfortable letting young people take<br />
the lead.<br />

About us<br />
The Equality and Human Rights Commission is the national equality body for England, Scotland and Wales and has been<br />
awarded an ‘A status’ as a National Human Rights Institution by the United Nations. Operating independently as a statutory<br />
body and established under the Equality Act 2006 we encourage equality and diversity, eliminate unlawful discrimination and<br />
promote and protect human rights. The Commission enforces equality legislation on age, disability, gender reassignment,<br />
marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.<br />
Overview of the role<br />
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to support us achieving our objectives in Scotland and across<br />
GB. Representing the Commission through liaising and influencing key stakeholders including ministers, committees and<br />
cross party groups is a key part of the role so the Commission’s priorities remain at the forefront of policy and legislative<br />
debates in Scotland. Also fundamental is the ability to lead on the delivery of projects and programmes which currently<br />
include treaty monitoring, the Manifesto for Change (Disability Harassment Inquiry) in Scotland and implementation of the<br />
Scotland Act (2016) including transfer of equality, welfare and finance powers to the Scottish Parliament.<br />
What we are looking for<br />
To successfully undertake the role of Government and Parliamentary Affairs Manager you will need strong analytical and<br />
drafting skills as well as the ability to lead and manage projects. You will possess detailed knowledge of equality and human<br />
rights policy in devolved Scotland as well as political and institutional frameworks supporting equality and human rights<br />
in the UK. Experience in managing relationships at a senior level and working in the areas of reserved and devolved law is<br />
also key.<br />
