LATEST VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN<br />

ABERDEEN INCLUDE:<br />

Bookbug Week Volunteers:<br />

Bookbug is the Scottish Government funded programme to support literacy which gifts a pack of free books to all children at key points<br />

in their life between birth and 5. There are also free story song and rhyme sessions to encourage parents and carers to share stories<br />

with their child.<br />

Bookbug Week 2016 will have an international theme to celebrate Bookbug around the World. We are organising exciting Bookbug Week<br />

events in:<br />

-Kaimhill Library, Thursday 19th May 2016 between 1.30pm – 3.30pm.<br />

-the Bon Accord Centre on Friday 20th May 2016 between 9.30am – 12 noon<br />

There are great opportunities for people to help volunteering at either or both of these events.<br />

As a Bookbug Week volunteer you will play a crucial role in communicating with the children, and parents/carers during this event at the<br />

Bon Accord Centre. Duties include: -Wearing the Bookbug costume -Assisting the wearer of the Bookbug Costume -Assist with directing<br />

public at event -Assist with distribution/collection of promotional material at event -Reporting any incidents and accidents -Assisting<br />

with any emergency situations.<br />

A fantastic, enjoyable opportunity to be involved in an important and exciting event. All volunteers are welcome, well supported and<br />

After Hours: Playground Volunteers:<br />

Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums will be hosting an exciting After Hours: Playground event on 13th May. We have a range of exciting<br />

volunteer roles for people to assist in this. This includes: Meeters and Greeters, Fumbalina’s Crafty Helpers, Human Fruit Machine, Hula<br />

Hoops & Slinky Races, Giant Games & Hosting, Find a Pair Games Master, Collective Play to name but a few!<br />

Volunteering is an excellent opportunity to get involved in a vibrant programme of cultural activity in Aberdeen. It provides a fun and<br />

sociable way to build your CV and gain experience in public engagement and event delivery. Volunteers will develop key skills including;<br />

team working, customer service and communication. This is a fantastic way to engage more closely with the work of one of Aberdeen’s<br />

leading cultural venues and meet other people with similar interests. All help is greatly appreciated.<br />

Allotment Market Stall Volunteers:<br />

The Allotment Market Stall (TAMS) is based in Aberdeen and was established in 2012. Since then it has brought seasonal, fresh, local<br />

allotment grown vegetables and fruit to Aberdeen City.<br />

TAMS aim to reduce waste, reduce food miles and so improve our local environment. TAMS also aim to improve access to locally grown<br />

vegetables and fruit that is seasonal and fresh from the allotments of Aberdeen by running market stalls. These market stalls sell excess<br />

produce from allotments across Aberdeen during July, August, September and October.<br />

The Allotment Market Stall is looking for volunteers for this season to help collect and deliver produce on Thursdays and to volunteer<br />

on the stall on Fridays and Saturdays. We are flexible with volunteering hours. Do contact us for a chat. T: 07583 758 494 E:<br />
