Aberlour Options Aberdeen Education Support Workers – 30 hrs per week term time only £19,673 pro rata JOB VACANCIES At Options Aberdeen we pride ourselves on delivering a range of effective, personalised services to children and young people with complex needs, enabling them to grow, learn and maximise their potential within their community. Most of the young people we support may be on the autistic continuum, experience global developmental delay or have other complex needs. Our new education service provides alternatives to education for young people who have been or are at risk of being excluded from mainstream school. We work collaboratively with the young people, their families and other key players either within the young person’s school, within the community or within the service premises at Bucksburn. Working in this relatively new service, there is an excellent developmental opportunity to contribute towards growth of the service and evolving the programmes that are essential to achieving successful outcomes for the young people. Working alongside our team of Young People’s Workers, you will play a fundamental role, often as a key worker, in developing person centred care to support enhancement of life skills and ability to problem solve, supporting the young people to take responsibility for their actions and overcome social isolation. Programmes are designed to help the young people achieve both socially and academically. Rigorous evaluation of how programmes of activity achieve required outcomes plays a significant role in assessing the effectiveness of the work we do and informing how work is delivered in the future. Although work is often carried out on a 1:1 basis, the focus will increasingly be on group work, recognising the contribution this makes in helping the young people to interact with their peers and wider networks. There is no ‘typical’ day for the young people we work with. You will therefore be someone who thrives on being able to adapt, within agreed parameters, to what is needed to give the young person the best experience and opportunity in working towards their outcomes. At all times, we expect our team members to demonstrate in their practice, how they uphold Aberlour’s values of Respect, acting in a way that shows we care about one another’s feelings; Integrity, doing the right thing even when no-one else is watching; Innovative, finding new, efficient ways of doing things; and Challenging, questioning ourselves and others rather than simply accepting the status quo.
