ISLAMOPHOBIA IN Sweden
THE AUTHORS
Aroma Abrashi is a former student at Gothenburg University, from where she
obtained a MA degree in Global Studies. Having a BA in law from the University of
Hull, she always had a keen interest in justice and equality. The combination of her
two degrees resulted in a MA thesis discussing Islamophobia in the Grand Chamber
of the European Court of Human Rights, defended in November 2015- a topic she
had first written about during her law degree. She has a multidisciplinary understanding
of global political economy, and sees a future in the research field of Islamophobia.
Currently Aroma is also admitted to the Granada Summer School teaching
‘Critical Muslim Studies’ organized by UC Berkley professor Ramon Grosfoguel. In
this report Aroma has been supervised by Prof. Åke Sander and Prof. Göran Larsson
from the Department of Literature, History of Ideas, and Religion at Gothenburg
University. aroma_abrashi@hotmail.com
