The Commission / DG ENV will be <strong>the</strong> leader of WG 2.D. It will be assisted by a<br />
European Steering Team involving <strong>the</strong> following bodies: COM / JRC, COM /<br />
EUROSTAT, EEA<br />
• Participants<br />
In addition <strong>the</strong> Steering Team, all Member States, o<strong>the</strong>r countries in <strong>the</strong> CIS,<br />
stakeholders and NGOs can nominate experts to this group through <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
representative in <strong>the</strong> Strategic Coordination Group.<br />
• Links with o<strong>the</strong>r activities<br />
The WG has to take into account <strong>the</strong> ongoing activities on <strong>the</strong> revision of <strong>the</strong><br />
“Reporting Directive” (91/692/EEC) as well as under <strong>the</strong> INSPIRE initiative.<br />
• Type and intensity of work<br />
In its work, <strong>the</strong> WG will be supported by topic drafting teams responsible <strong>for</strong><br />
preparing working documents and preliminary guidelines to be discussed and<br />
agreed.<br />
The WG and <strong>the</strong> topic drafting teams will have to deal with a wide range of technical<br />
issues (data exchange procedures, geographical in<strong>for</strong>mation systems, web based<br />
applications etc…).<br />
It will also need to maintain close interactions with o<strong>the</strong>r WGs to address <strong>the</strong><br />
reporting aspects resulting from <strong>the</strong>ir work in an appropriate way.<br />
