EMI Suppression Options
High performance Flat Panel Displays (FPD) with operating frequencies at 400MHz are common place.
To minimize the bandwidth EMI noise sources at this higher frequency, Meritec offers both ferrite
solutions and shielding solutions for cost effective EMI suppression.
1. Ferrite Part Number Impedance at 25 MHz/100MHz Can be used on X” wide cable

2. Shielding Options:
a. Aluminum Foil Shielding laminated to Mylar insulation of the flat flex cable. The foil is .001
inches thick with .0005 inches of clear Mylar insulation. Select conductors with within the FFC
can be grounded directly to the foil shield. Drain wires are also an option.
b. Conductive Silver Ink Shielding applied to the Mylar surface of the FFC can provide effective
EMI suppression while allowing for maximum flexibility of the cable for more dynamic
applications. Select conductors within the FFC can be grounded directly to the conductive ink
shield.
c. Patterned Conductive Silver Ink Shielding applied to the Mylar surface of the FFC in a
cross-hatch pattern can provide effective EMI suppression while maintaining higher impedance
values more favorable to LVDS applications. The patterned ink also allows for maximum
flexibility of the cable for more dynamic applications. Select conductors within the FFC can be
grounded directly to the patterned conductive ink shield.
3. Other Options. Meritec can provide you with an application specific quotation for an FFC assembly
that incorporates folds, labels, various tape products, mechanical clips, etc. Transition printed
circuits can also be provided to accommodate various connectors and pitch changes within an
assembly.
4. Stocked product. Meritec offers the following stocked FPDI-1 cable assemblies that are likely to be
in stock at Meritec or your local Meritec Distributor.
