Cut-paper collage<br />
STUDENT: I want people<br />
to see my artwork and<br />
be happy for me. I want<br />
them to know I tried my<br />
best. I like to make art<br />
because it’s fun.<br />
TEACHER: Students learned<br />
about geometric and<br />
organic shapes. Building<br />
on this knowledge,<br />
students began cutting<br />
out shapes for their faces,<br />
ears, and necks. They<br />
added facial details and<br />
hair using layering. Their<br />
collages demonstrated<br />
experimentation with the<br />
placement of cut paper,<br />
shapes, composition, and color.<br />
Giancarlo’s self-portrait collage<br />
really looks like him! I was especially<br />
drawn to the attention he placed<br />
into creating his eyes, eyebrows,<br />
and eyelashes.<br />
