STUDENT: I feel good when I am creating<br />
something, and when it’s finished<br />
I’m proud of what I have done. It<br />
was difficult cutting out the organic<br />
shapes, specifically those of the<br />
ballerinas, but Mrs. Meloni always<br />
pushes me to work hard and achieve<br />
more than I think I can.<br />

to discuss, interpret, analyze, and<br />
evaluate their works as well as those<br />
of their peers. Elizabeth captured<br />
the lesson’s key components and<br />
demonstrated excellent technical<br />
skills. Elizabeth’s artwork is graceful;<br />
she collaged her way into my heart.<br />
TEACHER: We just began our sixthgrade<br />
visual arts program. Our<br />
curriculum emphasizes the<br />
development of art vocabulary and<br />
art-making techniques, with an eye<br />
on the students’ future visual arts<br />
schooling. For this collage unit,<br />
students explored shape, space,<br />
color, movement, pattern, and unity,<br />
with a special focus on shape and<br />
movement. We were inspired by many<br />
