Getting about the Tamar Valley Drawn to the Valley are keen to promote the use of sustainable transport. On this page you will find details of public transport which we would encourage you to use whenever possible to reach some of the venues. The Tamar Valley Line, run by First Great Western, is a scenic route between Plymouth and Gunnislake which also stops at Bere Alston and Calstock. There is also a train from Plymouth to Saltash. The Cremyll ferry is a charming foot ferry, near the Royal William Yard, which connects Plymouth to the Rame Peninsula, with a bus to Millbrook and Rame: tel. 01752 822105 and see www.cremyll-ferry.co.uk Both First Buses and Plymouth City Bus operate between Plymouth and Tavistock and surrounding areas; First Buses and Plymouth City Bus both operate between Callington and Tavistock, and villages in between. You could even take a boat from Plymouth’s historic Barbican to Calstock, or to Cawsand on the Rame Peninsula. Some stop at Saltash. Train links range from the mainline Paddington – Penzance service to local access from Gunnislake to that from Looe, Saltash, etc. Further information from Traveline as above. The Plymouth City Bus Company offers services throughout the city and an information hotline on 01752 662271 or visit their Travel Centre is 32, Royal Parade, Plymouth. Finally, it may help you to know that there are ferry services from Torpoint to Plymouth for cars.
