TIPS FOR
TOURISTS
Photography in Public
Areas
Photography in public areas is permitted under
the Public Areas and Tourism Sites Photography
System. The System allows photography
everywhere except where a «Photography
Prohibited» sign is displayed.
Customs
There are many materials that are prohibited
in the Kingdom for religious purposes or
local systems. Such prohibited materials are:
alcoholic drinks, pork products, illegal drugs,
narcotics, firearms, explosives, sharp weapons
and pornographic materials. All personal
belongings, such as luggage, bags and others,
are subject to inspections at airports and
ports for those visitors coming from abroad.
Magazines, newspapers, books, videos and CDs
are also subject to examination, and they will
be confiscated if they contain any offensive or
pornographic information. Men and women must
be separated in swimming pools and sports
clubs.
Smoking is prohibited in all public buildings,
including airports, governmental organizations,
and in some restaurants.
Communication
The Saudi communication network covers almost
all populated areas in the Kingdom allowing
you to enjoy internet, long distance calls, fax,
mobile, telex and telegraph. High speed internet
is available by mobile phone service providers.
There is also a unified number for directory
inquiries, which can be accessed by dialing 905
to request any number within the Kingdom.
