In addition to its diverse terrain and
environment, each region of the Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia is blessed with unique
archeological and urban heritage which
includes museums, historical sites, ancient
architecture and traditional souks (markets).
After the evolution of Islam, the Islamic state
succeeded in integrating all parts of the Arabian
Peninsula, which became the capital of Islamic
Da’wah in the times of Prophet Mohamed, peace
be upon him, and his successors. This was the
outset of the Islamic movement that aimed at
spreading Islam and Arabism across various
parts of the world.
In Saudi Arabia, each province has its own
distinct and rich heritage of handicrafts, local
cuisine and traditional markets that exhibit
the work of its locals. Some of the products
that you may find in any given traditional
market include rugs, furniture, clothes,
fragrances, amber and incense, gold and
jewelery, antiques and artwork.
In the early years of the Islamic 14th century,
(19th century A.D.), King Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul
Rahman Al Saud, may he rest in peace, unified
most provinces of the Arabian Peninsula,
founding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
