DAIRY WEEK<br />

The <strong>RASV</strong>’s highly coveted<br />

Dairy Interbreed Champion was<br />

for the first time presented at<br />

International Dairy Week (IDW)<br />

in Tatura, 17-21 January, as part<br />

of the organisation’s revised<br />

dairy program.<br />

Increasing our support through<br />

major sponsorship of IDW,<br />

considered Australia’s premier<br />

dairy event, <strong>RASV</strong> also sponsored a<br />

number of other competition classes,<br />

conducted the <strong>RASV</strong> Dairy Industry<br />

Leader’s Breakfast and had an onsite<br />

presence throughout the duration<br />

of the event.<br />

On the final day of judging the<br />

prestigious awards of Junior<br />

Interbreed Champion, Intermediate<br />

Interbreed Champion and Australia’s<br />

Grand Champion were awarded by<br />

an esteemed panel of six judges,<br />

including local and international<br />

experts from Australia, Canada<br />

and the USA.<br />

Junior Champion was awarded to<br />

Brunchilli Excitation Belle (Jersey)<br />

of Brunchilli Farming Trust, Finley<br />

NSW, with Paringa Fever Opa of<br />

Paringa Holsteins, Invergordon<br />

Victoria taking home the ribbon for<br />

Intermediate Champion.<br />

A veteran of the Dairy Show circuit,<br />

nine-year-old Shirlinn Icy Eve<br />

of Shirlinn Jerseys, Tamworth<br />

NSW took out the coveted title of<br />

Australia’s Grand Champion, after<br />

impressing the judges throughout the<br />

competition.<br />

As part of <strong>RASV</strong>’s commitment to<br />

supporting regional events and<br />

providing greater opportunities to<br />

industry participants, the addition<br />

of the <strong>RASV</strong> Interbreed to the IDW<br />

schedule was well received, with the<br />

competition boasting record entries<br />

this year.<br />
