2.4 Configuring <strong>IBM</strong> System x based BIOS system.<br />

To configure the host to storage connection, we will need to make changes in the host system<br />

BIOS.<br />

Configuration of the <strong>IBM</strong> System x BIOS.<br />

1. Power on the host system <strong>and</strong> interrupt the boot sequence to enter the system BIOS by<br />

pressing the F1 key.<br />

2. Select Devices <strong>and</strong> I/O ports from the main menu, as shown in Figure 2-9.<br />

3. Select Planar SAS from the next menu <strong>and</strong> disable the port, as shown in Figure 2-10 on<br />

page 32.<br />

Note: This will disable the onboard Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) to speed the boot<br />

process <strong>and</strong> will make sure the system doesn’t try to boot of the onboard disks. Even if<br />

you remove the local disks you still need to disable the Planar SAS.<br />
