To configure the host to storage connection, we will need to make changes in the host system BIOS. Configuration of the IBM System x BIOS. 1. Power on the host system and interrupt the boot sequence to enter the system BIOS by pressing the F1 key. 2. Select Devices and I/O ports from the main menu, as shown in Figure 2-9. Figure 2-9 Disabling IDE Devices 3. Select Planar SAS from the next menu and disable the port, as shown in Figure 2-10 on page 32. Note: This will disable the onboard Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) to speed the boot process and will make sure the system doesn’t try to boot of the onboard disks.
