INTRODUCTION TO OFFICIATING
This course will develop the necessary skills and
knowledge to become an effective official in
wheelchair basketball.
The course will cover the important aspects of
refereeing a game of wheelchair basketball as well as
scoring and taking the statistics in a match. These new
skills will allow the candidate to officiate the adapted
game of Inclusive Zone Basketball.
6 HOUR COURSE
• First hour in a classroom/meeting room and rest
on court.

LEADERS AWARD
Candidates will gain an understanding of how to safely
and knowledgeably introduce the basic fundamental skills
of wheelchair basketball to young and novice players.
Skills covered are: chair movement; dribbling;
passing and receiving; and shooting, all part of the
‘FUNdamental Skills Awards’ scheme for Wheelchair
Basketball.
Candidates will then be able to progress these skills
into small sided games and gain an understanding of
the rules of ‘Inclusive Zone Basketball’, and how to set
up Inclusive Zone basketball festivals.
