UK Dodgeball Association Lead: Ben Hoyle Telephone: 07784 048079 E-mail: Ben.hoyle@ukdodgeball.org AGES 9-11 DODGEBALL MINI LEADERS AWARD Students from years 5 & 6 will be able to take their first step onto the leadership and coaching pathway through the UKDBA Mini Leaders Award. They will learn leadership skills and new formats of the sport in a totally practical way. The course empowers the mini leaders with the confidence and knowledge to deliver sessions and competitions within their schools to younger age groups and their peers. 2-3 HOUR COURSE - This course can be delivered by a teacher in school following the stepby-step resource. - No prior knowledge of the sport is required. FACILITY REQUIREMENT The course can be delivered in the school hall or in a suitable outdoor space. COSTING £25 for the Mini Leaders Tutor resource. Class of pupils recommended 24 maximum. FURTHER INFORMATION http://www.ukdba.org/#/ leadership/4561376588 AGES 12-19 LEADERSHIP AWARD IN DODGEBALL The leadership award in dodgeball is suitable for all young people regardless of their previous leadership experience and provides the training that will enable them to lead others in the sport of dodgeball. Learners will cover the following learning outcomes and by the end of the course will be able to: 1.Understand health and safety requirements and the importance of a warm up and cool down 2. Know the basic skills required to participate in dodgeball, be able to break these skills down and communicate them to others 3. Know the rules of dodgeball and be able to officiate 4. Lead activities to develop the key skill areas 5. Understand how to access further leadership opportunities. 3 HOUR COURSE This module will give learners the opportunity to put the generic leadership skills of organisation and communication into a sports specific context. - Delivered by a UKDBA tutor. The course can also be delivered by a qualified young leaders tutor, such as a PE Teacher who has completed the UKDBA level 1 or level 2 Coaching Award upon purchasing the tutor resource. FACILITY REQUIREMENT The course is delivered in a sports hall. COSTING £16 per candidate + £100 tutor fee. Delivered to a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 24 candidates.
