Alan McIntosh
to Chair
Transforming
Lives Dinner
Alan McIntosh understands the important role that
Catholic education plays in lives of young people. As
a member of the O’Dowd Board of Regents, serving
on the marketing/admissions committee, Alan seeks
to ensure that all qualified students – regardless of
their financial circumstances - have the opportunity
to attend O’Dowd.
Alan recently stepped up to chair the November 3,
2016 Transforming Lives Dinner, an annual event that
raises money for the school’s financial aid program.
“The Transforming Lives Dinner has
always been close to my heart because I
know all the good it does for students in
need. O’Dowd is definitely a life-changer
for many kids, and this dinner helps enable
many young people and their families
to take advantage of this wonderful
institution,” Alan said.
“There is no doubt that Catholic education is one
of the last affordable private education options, and
it’s important that we all pitch in as a community to
make sure that continues,” Alan added. “We don’t
want O’Dowd to only be a school for the privileged.”
Alan knows, first-hand, how transformative an
O’Dowd education can be. Alan and his wife, Imelda,
have two sons – Nigel ’15, who currently attends UC
Davis, and, Ruben ’17. “O’Dowd has been a great experience
for both of our children,” he said.
While Alan has supported other community fundraising
events, such as serving as chairperson of the
St. Rose Hospital Foundation golf tournament, this
O’Dowd event is particularly special to him.
“When I see the bright young folks and how they are
taking advantage of this great opportunity it makes
supporting this event quite satisfying,” he said. “I
pray that this year’s Transforming Lives Dinner raises
more money than ever before and all attending are
truly moved by the event.”
Director of Annual Giving and Special Events Cathy
McFann said that Alan didn’t hesitate to say “yes”
when asked to chair the event.
“Given Alan’s generous financial support, and how
passionate he is about making a difference in the
lives of students, he was a natural choice,” she said.
“We are so fortunate to have him lead the effort.”
