Shakespeare by the Sea returns this summer for its 19th season with "Othello,"<br />
the emotionally gripping thriller, where gossip turns friendships rancid<br />
and rumor brutally murders innocence. The epic romantic tale “Cymbeline”<br />
follows, filled with magical potions, dastardly villains, ghosts and lost princes.<br />

“Come for the feast, stay for the fun” is the motto of world’s largest lobster<br />
festival, featuring family entertainment, live music, and of course, fresh<br />
Maine lobster. In addition to lobster, the festival offers a variety of culinary<br />
delights from vendors and food trucks, with seafood, sausages, barbeque,<br />
tacos, rice bowls, and vegetarian options. A wide range of beverages and<br />

International Surf Festival<br />
Thu. - Sun., August 4-7<br />
Hermosa, Manhattan, Redondo, Torrance<br />
The world’s premier watermen, waterwomen and volleyball players converge<br />
on the three beach cities for four days of spirited competition in the water<br />
and on the sand. The festival starts with the Charlie Saikley six man volleyball<br />
(and costume) tournament at the Manhattan Pier on Thursday and Friday.<br />
Friday at 7 p.m. the LA County Lifeguard Championships will be held at the<br />
Hermosa Beach Pier. Saturday the Southern California Lifeguard Championships<br />
will be held at the Hermosa Pier. Other Saturday events include surfing<br />
and bodysurfing contests and a two-mile sand race at the Hermosa pier<br />
and an eight mile paddleboard race starting at Torrance Beach. On Sunday a<br />
1.5 mile paddleboard race starts at the Manhattan pier, followed by a twomile<br />
swim race from the Hermosa to Manhattan pier.<br />

Navy Days LA honors the men and women of the military and also provides<br />
an opportunity to showcase their skills and their vessels. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.<br />
Ships to be announced. Past visiting ships have included the USS Wayne E.<br />
Meyer, USS Abraham Lincoln, and USS Gary.<br />
