Gimme a Minute: January Board Meeting

President Jim Falgout
started the meeting a few minutes
early. He was contacted regarding
the All British & European Car Day,
who invited the Porsche Club to
their event on May 1 at White Rock
Lake Park. More details later. He
reported for the missing Tracy Robertson,
who was happy to announce
that Phyllis Gallegos will be her Social
Event Co-Chair. Their first event
together is the All Member Party
(AMP) on January 23.
Drivers’ Education Chair Chris
Tabor has good events dates set
up for 2016, with two in the spring
and three in the fall, including the
solo-only DE in conjunction with
the Club Race. He wants to market
the social aspects of the DE events,
as well as the driving. He will work
to promote events in Slipstream and
encourage photography and articles,
and will provide discount codes
for people who attend the AMP.
VP David Robertson is working
with past VP Gareth Maurice to
learn the ropes for insurance needs.
He will be talking to Zone 5 Rep
Lynn Friedman about insurance
needs for Equipe Rapide autocross
events.
Editor Jim Hirsch reported that
Slipstream was on time, even with
the early deadline due to the holidays.
He remarked that with about
300 new members joining every
year, it would be good for all chairs
to routinely give brief information
about their events in Slipstream. He
will continue the 40-page format,
as he has received great article support.
He will be selling calendars
and directories at the AMP.
Rally Chair Don Sebert is planning
a spring rally. He is looking for
dates and ideas for a gimmick rally.

Monthly Dinner Social Chair
Stephanie Ho said there is no event
in January to draw attendance away
from the AMP. The February event
will be at Lavendou, but will be limited
to the first 30 couples to RSVP.
It will be a special party in honor of
Valentine’s Day. March will bring us
back to Love & War in Texas. She is
looking in Addison for a location
for April.
Treasurer Rich Solomon reported
that we are financially healthy.
We had a net gain last year of ~$25K.
He will be sending out financial reports
to all event chairs with their
specifics. He will publish a financial
report in Slipstream soon. Founders
Day received over $9300 in donations
for the Hope Shelter (likely the
most ever) and about $12K for the
year. He had to modify (with presidential
approval) how the Hope donations
were handled for the end of
the year. Charity Chair Chris Hamilton
needed money for gift cards for
the party and the rest was sent as a
check. He also sent approved donations
to the Boot Campaign. He will
finalize the charity committee by
next month. He reminded all to use
the forms on our website for check
requests and money receipts.
Concours Chair Andy Kay is getting
the May at Mayo’s event set, as
well as information for Autos in the
Park in June. He is working with the
Lone Star Region Concours Chair,
Thomas Roy, on ideas.
Autocross Chair Mark Schnoerr
thanked Jim Hirsch for his Slipstream
promotion and James Shoffit
for his work on the autocross web
page. Approximately 30 Porsches
participated in the ER program last
year. He wants to encourage more
to come out, focusing on the fun.
Their events are low key and really
enjoyable.
Social Co-Chair Phyllis Gallegos
has already been working with Tracy
Robertson on the AMP. She will
make sure all requests get taken
care of for tables, power, etc.
Volunteer Chair Jim Gallegos believes
it will be easy to get volunteers
because PCA people are very nice!
He wants to encourage more to
help and will work with event chairs
for their needs. He wants all major
areas to have lots of support.
Perennial volunteer James
Shoffit reported that he has been
working as part of the web team to
update our website. He noted that
many pages still need to be done,
and it’s up to the event chairs to
look at their pages and make necessary
change requests. He will work
to catch up the history page.
DE/CR Registrar Wendy Shoffit
noted that registration for the first
DE of the year will open Jan 27.
Porsche Parade hotel registration
has opened and the “regular” event
registration will take place in early
April.
Absentee Past President John
Hamilton reported that our membership
is at another all-time high
with 1642 primary members and 900
associates for a total of 2542. This is
a net gain of 18 over last month.
Lastly, Jim Falgout presented
James Shoffit with the Maverick
of the Month award for his recent
work on the website, PayPal issues,
and continued website, email, and
Facebook support.
