Our Hope Holiday

The “Silver Sleigh” (a beautiful Cayenne loaned by Boardwalk
Porsche) headed to Mineral Wells with driver and co-pilot, Lanean
and Clara, loaded with toys and goodies for the staff, women, and
children at the Hope Shelter. We were met on the outskirts of Mineral
Wells by more Maverick Elves, who added to the festive outing.
At the NEW shelter we found anxious children awaiting the arrival
of the gifts from Mavericks to give them a wonderful Christmas to
remember for a long time. It was exciting for us to be in the new shelter.
Although it’s not completed yet, it’s getting there. There was a beautiful
Christmas tree all decorated and the staff had prepared wonderful food
for us all. Jean Frick brought her violin and played the traditional
Christmas carols, much to the joy of the children and adults alike. In fact
one Mom asked if Jean could return at bedtime to play and put her
children to sleep.
We realize with each year how blessed we are. Being able to share
some of what we have with these mothers and children is a great gift.You
will see a letter from one of the moms who we have helped make a
difference in her life. They now have a new life and that’s what this is
all about. Sharing with others and helping them start anew. Our
contributions to Hope and the soon-to-open new facility shows
dedication by our members and their extended families to making this a
reality. Note all the great pictures and remember we will soon be asked to
paint and help landscape this beautiful facility. We can’t wait. Thanks to
all of you for your support of this program.
