Happy Hour at Uncle Julio’s

Uncle Julio’s is one of the more recent additions to our
happy hour circuit, coming to us courtesy of Monda
Degan. This was one of those cold, wet weather nights,
and as a result, I didn’t expect to see many Mavericks. As it
turned out, we had a warm, happy group of thirty, all of whom
apparently felt it was a perfect night for hot Mexican Food and
(go figure) frozen margaritas.

Walther were discussing their
recent skiing trip to Colorado, and
their upcoming adventure to
Kilimanjaro. I asked if they would
make sure that Cathy carried the
camera so we could see a photo of
the summit (since the Las Vegas
odds makers have established
Cathy as being more probable of
making it to the top). All the time,
Mark was asking the bartenders
Cathy Walther about the ingredients of the drinks,
because certain liquors give him a
headache. Sounds like a candidate for altitude sickness,
wouldn’t you say? The real drink to try next time is the Uncle
Julio special brew Sangria. Unlike Mark, I didn’t even want
to know what was in it.
The “car talk” guys showed up –
Ed and Mark Demas – and they
entertained with stories about
Hollywood Finishes – Ed’s Fort
Worth paint and body shop. Tom
and Ray Magliozzi would have been
proud. This time they brought
their better half Janet (I believe she’s
married to Mark). Janet and Mark
have three girls graduating from
high school this year. It’s a long

and very interesting story – I
hope to hear more about it
next happy hour.
So for our March 15th
happy hour, we return to Salt
Grass Steakhouse, at 635 and
MacArthur in Irving. Hope to
