Maverick Minutes by Charlie Davis, Secretary Maverick Region October 2008 Board Meeting… In attendance: James Shoffit, Wendy Shoffit, Jan Mayo, Bob Lewis, Tracey Gross, Mike Brodigan, Christy Dominick, Jim Falgout, Teri Davis, Charlie Davis, Travis Howard, Robyn Howard, and Bryan Bell. James called the meeting to order at 7:06 PM. He immediately gave the floor to Wendy… Wendy confessed that directory sales are slow so far… she has sold approximately 12. She plans to print the directory in January or February. Hopefully, the ads in the September and October issues of Slipstream will boost sales. Jan admitted that nobody who needs to provide articles or ads was here. Unless people write more articles, Slipstream will have two blank pages! Bob L reported that only 16 people attended the recent Happy Hour at Reata’s. We’ll be at Uncle Julio’s in October, Bugatti’s in November, and Big Bucks Brewery in December. Bob then led a discussion about how to increase Happy Hour attendance. Tracey is pleased to have her Founders Day committee set. They are working well together. They have a goal to raise twice the donations through the auction as we did last year. Travis wondered how long the cocktails would be served and seemed pleased with the answer, which was 5:30 to 7:30. The Holiday Party will be at the clubhouse at Heritage in Keller on December 14 th . Mike said he was still learning which exit to take to get to Hackberry Creek Country Club. Christy said she had a new laptop, a new job, but no new goodies. Bummer… Lisa, with Bob K missing, announced that she had money…something like $2700 from Slipstream ad sales. 8
My notes were not clear but I think she plans a shopping trip? She said the recent DE was great! Due to the influx of customers on the Sunday Drive, we made about $500 for our H 4 charity. Bryan put on his food critic hat and gave one thumb down to the grouper and one thumb up for the salmon. Actually, he’s still trying to figure out what the vice president does? Jim didn’t say much. Teri had a classic failure to communicate. She got an insurance certificate for the October 12 th Rally…but there is no October 12 th Rally. Charlie recently sold the old air conditioner out of the Truxster for $25. He wanted Bob K to know that finally his Truxster account is showing a profit! Unfortunately, Bob K was not in attendance, so he kept the $25 until next month. Travis was relieved that our Time Trials are over. The last two were well attended (47 & 35 entrants). The results of the Bryan Bell vs. Marilynn Moseley grudge match were unexpected…Richard Diller won! Lisa jumped in with questions about awards. Robyn had nuttin’ to say. James reported that some of the DE’s are already set for 2009. Jan, after a call to Linda, said that plans for Roundup were complete. We wondered if it was advertised on the website? If not, it should be. James adjourned the meeting at 7:54 PM. 9
