My Thoughts

What an extraordinary month
it has been preparing
this issue. For several
months I’ve been “mentioning”
that having some help putting
Slipstream together would be really
nice and that we were changing
publisher programs for just that opportunity. All
that niceness was met with resounding silence,
thank you very much.
Then I asked Mark Gluck to prepare me
a “HELP” ad which was in my column last
month. And I had seven responses! Who says
advertising doesnít work. But I want to know,
was it the “HELP” or the straggly hair and
frantic expression?
Now the dilemma is what to do with whom,
or who to have do what, and/or how, when,
whether, and what. What what? Whew! We’re
working on that as we speak, so if you volunteered
and I haven’t gotten back with you, don’t
fret or feel like I’ve called wolf and then backed
off to watch the fracas. There are little things
and big things that can be so very helpful. I applaud
all of you that have stood up!
This month had another First. While I
occasionally have volunteer articles, this month
I had TWO. Ok, they were both by the same
person, Lori Mauthe, but hey! Any volunteer
is wonderful. Look for her recap of Rennsport
III and be awed by the company this girl keeps.
Not only that, the FIRST that I mentioned is that
I was provided pictures by 10 different people.
That’s why I said in the photo credit box up front
that there were too many wonderful people to
mention. But I can mention and thank everyone
here. [Uh oh, here I go again risking leaving
someone out. I’ll apologize up front.]
Charlie Davis and Wendy Shoffit are always
wonderful providing beautiful coves and event
shots and Travis Howard gave me some additional
great shots from Eagles Canyon. Chuck
McCoy and Maria & Mike Stafford added to
Clint Blackman’s usual lone photographic stint
for the latest Sunday Drive. Lori Mauthe provided
all the pictures for her Rennsport article
as well as the one of her at the finish of the 60
mile walk. (You’ll have to read her article to see
what this is about.) Then Melissa Gatlin provided
some fun pictures to accompany Bob Lewis’s
from the Happy Hour. Bob Lewis also wrote
about the Happy Hour and Mike Lockas did too.
See if you can figure out how I mooshed the two
together. That was great fun.
So you see, YOU too can see your name in
print. It’s real easy. Just shoot!
