Welcome to the Spring season
of events, fellow Mavericks,
and it certainly is a busy one!
Here’s what you can look forward to (and
hopefully, participate in):
-Get a Grip Autocross Academy, April
9th at Texas Rangers Stadium: If you’ve
never driven your beloved Porsche
anywhere but on the street, here’s a great safe way for you to
learn how your car can handle. You drive in a flat parking lot
with only orange traffic cones as obstacles with an instructor
showing you how to improve your driving skills. This IS the
best way to start learning what your car (and YOU) can do!
-The Bluebonnets Sunday Drive, April 10th. This is the
PREMIERE Sunday driving event of the year! Join Porsches
of almost every model and year as we tour the Texas roads
and the beautiful Bluebonnets along the way. We’ll stop and
park our “girls” in the ‘bonnets for photo opportunities. So
remember to bring your camera so you can capture some of
the great scenery, which will include Bluebonnets, Porsches
and People!
-April Drivers’ Education, April 16-17 at Motorsport
Ranch in Cresson. This is typically the best-weather DE
of the year: not too hot and not too cold. I hope you already
signed-up since these are selling out fast. If you don’t want
to drive but just want to observe, feel free to come down in
your Porsche, let our own Cathy Howard at the gate know
you’re a member, and come watch us on the track. Who
knows? You might catch the DE fever!
-Happy Hour at the Wildwood Grill,
Southlake, Thursday, April 21st. Come
join a bunch of us at a great local
restaurant for Happy Hour, and stay for
dinner like most of us do. You may want
to bring your photos from the Bluebonnets
Sunday Drive!
-Time Trial #2 at Mineral Wells,
Saturday, April 30th. Come develop your
skills and improve your lap times around
the course. Full instruction is available!
And these are just some of the events
this month. There’s also Autocross #2 on
the 10th at Texas Rangers Stadium, the Lewisville lunch on
the 12th and Southlake Lunch on the 28th.
Did I forget to mention our Board Meeting on Wednesday
the 6th!?! Hey- all members are invited (and there’s a free
meal involved, too). Just RSVP to social@mavpca.org so
we will know what to feed you.
Our 50th Anniversary Celebration. Planning has begun!
Our committee was officially formed at the March board
meeting, and the committee had their first meeting on
March 15th. We’ve got about a dozen volunteers so far,
but we’ll need more along the way. If you’d like to help in
the planning and/or execution, please contact Lisa Steele at
50th@mavpca.org. They’re planning some REALLY BIG
FUN!!!

work harder to make
sure the club keeps
running than our
own Treasurer, Jim
Falgout. Jim pays
the bills, collects
the money, keeps
the books, builds the
budgets, and reports
out at each month’s
meeting: “We have
money.” So for all
you do, Jim, here is
your well-deserved
Mav of the Month award.
For being the Maverick of the Month, The Silver Fox
in Grapevine is giving Jim dinner for two at their award
winning steak house.
