Now that I
am getting
settled
in as Slipstream
editor, my next
task is to update
our contact
information. In
particular I would like to draw
your attention to the page on your
left, the listing of Board Officers
and Chairs. If you spot anything
that you know is incorrect, outof-date,
or missing, please email
me at editor@mavpca.org.
You may also notice that there
are a couple of empty photo
frames. One of them is because Pat
Heptig, our Club Race Co-Chair,
is so new that I have not had a
chance to get his photo yet.
But another empty photo frame
also has no actual name associated
with it - all it says is “Your
Name.” This is our “subtle”
invitation to you to consider
taking part in the operation or
management of the Region.
You don’t have to be a long-time
or well-known member, and you
don’t necessarily need to have
experience in a particular area.
For instance, our Secretary,
Madhu Rao, first joined the club in
2009, participated in a few events
(Round-Up and Sunday Drives
to name a couple), and the next
thing he knew, he was being asked
to run for Club Secretary, and the
rest is history. If you were to ask
Madhu about his experience so
far, I think he would tell you that
he has been exposed to the inner
workings and little-known details
about how our events are put on,
even before he has entered them.
As shown on page 31 of this issue,
Maverick Region has over 2000
primary and affiliate members, and
any of them are eligible to volunteer
for an office or position. If you
have attended any of our events, be
they social or competitive, we hope
that you enjoyed them. But we also
wonder if you have thought of ways
to make them more interesting
or more fun or more competitive
or perhaps less expensive.
If so, getting your idea heard
is as easy as contacting the appropriate
person listed on page
4. And if you would like to take
the next step and have your
name and photo listed there, we
could make that happen too!
