As we begin the new year of 2017
we only have to look around us
and feel grateful that we live
in such beautiful surroundings, often
referred to as “paradise.” However,
at JFCS of Southwest Florida and the
Naples Senior Center we are mindful
that not everyone lives as we do. In fact,
utilization of the JFCS Food Pantry has
increased to 450 visits per month.
The end of the year holidays of
Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas
gave us the opportunity to witness,
firsthand, the generosity of our friends
and neighbors who help us support
those who turn to us during their most
vulnerable times. JFCS helped 102 individuals
celebrate Thanksgiving with
fully-cooked Publix turkey dinners and
food support. For Hanukkah and Christmas,
Tracey Albert and her Temple Shalom
“holiday helpers” purchased and
beautifully gift wrapped a wonderful
assortment of presents for financiallystruggling
families with children, single
senior women, and Holocaust survivors.
In fact, if you dropped by our offices in
mid-December you would think you
were looking in Macy’s windows!
Our JFCS Food Pantry also benefited
from the creative generosity of
Jewish Book Festival co-chairs Robin
the Garden (sculpture created by Jennifer
and Kevin Box) and the American
Impressionists. Let’s meet in the
courtyard at noon. Those who attended
our prior tours found this a perfect way
to spend a Sunday afternoon. The cost
is $10 for Mix & Mingle members and
$15 for nonmembers. Please send your
check to Renee’ by February 1.
Mintz and Susan Pittelman. They repurposed
the beautiful centerpieces used
for a Festival luncheon event for our
18 centerpiece “birthday kits” used for
a Jewish Book Festival luncheon
were donated to the JFCS Food Pantry
pantry recipients who could use a little
help making their children’s birthdays
festive. The picture of the “birthday kit”
clearly shows how much time and good
down comedy’s memory lane to a time
when comedy was funny and clean. Join
us at 5:00 p.m. at the Federation office
for a light supper. Lenny will perform
at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for M&M
members and $15 for nonmembers. The
deadline for reservations is March 1. As
space is limited, we ask you to please
honor your reservation and let us know
