Normalization of Turkey’s relations
with Russia will contribute to the
exports of Turkish construction
sector positively
The exports of
Turkish construction
sector targeted to total
700 million dollars
ISTANBUL-As known, Turkey’s
relations with Russia have been
undergoing a normalization period.
Within this framework, the foreign
trade volume between the two
countries is expected to increase
considerably.
Serdar Urfalılar, Chairman, Turkish
Construction Materials Sector
Committee, İstanbul Mineral and
Metals Exporters Association,
pointed out, “ The exports of our
sector totaled 714 million dollars in
2014. In line with the normalization
process, our export figures would
reach the same figure in a short
period of time. This year, our exports
declined to 73 million dollars, whereas
our exports totaled 800 million dollars
in 2013 and 710 million dollars in
2014.”
He added: “One of the most visible
attempts emerging in recent period is
Construction Equipment Committee
founded under the establishment of
Istanbul Mine and Metals Exporters
Union (IMMIB).”

“The biggest share from 500 billion
dollars of export target for 2023
belongs to construction sector
with 100 billion dollars. Turkish
businessmen put utmost emphasis on
reaching the target.“
“The aim of the committee formed
by the attendances of representatives
from 5 exporter unions in IMMIB is
to increase the Turkish construction
equipment sales in countries where
commitment of sector are heavily
active.
Noting that Turkish construction
equipments are competitive enough
compared to their rivals both in
terms of quality and production
technology, Serdar Urfalilar, the
Chairman of the Committee and
IMMIB Board Member, said they

aimed to diversify and increase the
exports of the sector. Rıdvan Mertöz,
Chairman, İstanbul Ferrous and
Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters’
Association, IMMIB, said, “ The
normalization process with Russia
would be instrumental to increase
ferrous and non-ferrous metal
exports. The process is estimated to
contribute to Turkish exports around
4.5 billion dollars ultimately. We are
particularly planning to increase our
aluminum and copper based exports.
We will participate in Mosbuild ve
Batimat Fairs to display our products
more efficiently, thereby increasing
our exports to Russia. We are also
planning to initiate a Turkish Trade
Center in the region in order to pave
the way for increasing and upgrading
Turkish exports. ”
