and, as a result, many patients
suffer needlessly with poorly
fitting ostomy pouches.
“We recognised this problem
a number of years ago,” Ms
Tomkins said, “and set about
tailoring ostomy products for
patients, which was a first for
Ireland. We invested in hightech
cutting equipment that,
using a template specifically
taken by a stoma nurse will
ensure the pouch fits perfectly.
This template is then kept on
record for future orders and
can be altered if the size or
shape of the stoma changes,
which frequently occurs.”
United Drug operates a
same-day and/or next-day
delivery service for ostomy
products. Distributed from

Park, Dublin, orders placed
can be dispatched through a
nationwide delivery service
within hours, depending on
location and the time of day
that the order is placed. This
ensures that products will be

1. The patient is getting a bad odour from the pouch.
The patient can use the DEODOUR 005013A TABLETS which can be
put into the pouch to prevent the odour.
2. The patient is going to a wedding and is afraid that the
pouch might leak or even fall off.
The patient can use the Coloplast 12070 Brava Elastic Tape, which will
help prevent this.
3. The Patient is using a remover spray and it’s stinging
and causing pain.
The patient can use the NILTAC SPRAY/WIPES which are sting free.
4. The patient skin is getting red due to body fluids,
excoriation and harsh medical adhesives.
The patient can use the EAKIN PROTECT SPRAY/WIPES which are
non-sting formula and means no pain on application.
5. The contents of the patients pouch is moving around

The Patient can use the ABSORBAGEL SACHETS 9900 TABLETS
which solidifies the contents of the bag and stops the noise.

Nurse to call out to the privacy of their home to have them reassessed.
