Krka Pharmaceuticals would like to announce the
launch of Imatinib Krka* 100mg and 400mg. We would
like to draw your attention to the fact that, although
Imatinib as an active ingredient is no longer protected
by patent, Novartis does hold a patent in certain
European countries (patent EP 1 332 137), which
protects the use of imatinib for the treatment of gastro
intestinal tumours (GIST); this patent is valid in Ireland
until October 2021.
* Imatinib Krka is not approved for the indications treatment of GIST,
which is protected by the patent.

Actavis Group 400mg
Actavis has launched Imatinib Actavis Group 400mg in a pack
size of 30 film-coated tablets. Imatinib Actavis Group is a
prescription-only medicine indicated for the treatment of the
following cancers:
n Chronic myeloid leukaemia;
n Philadelphia chromosome positive acute
lymphoblastic leukaemia;
n Myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases;
n Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and/or chronic
eosinophilic leukaemia; and
n Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.
