Committee meetings<br />

There was a face to face committee meeting held in May 2016, and two further teleconferences in August 2016 and<br />

December 2016.<br />

Other important information<br />

In December 2015, David Ladenheim stepped down from his role as the Research and Development portfolio lead and David<br />

Sharpe stepped down from his role as the Consultations portfolio lead for Paediatrics. Laura Whitney returned from<br />

maternity leave in January 2016 to take up her position as Research and Development portfolio lead.<br />

Expert Professional Practice & Collaborative Working Relationships<br />

Diane Ashiru-Oredope and Emma Cramp participated in the development of two new CPPE antimicrobial resistance and<br />

stewardship workbooks aimed at primary care pharmacists.<br />

Diane Harris contributed to development of the RCGP TARGET webinar series which will provide GPs with learning on<br />

optimising antibiotic use.<br />

Laura Whitney, Mark Gilchrist and Jacqueline Sneddon finalised Guidance on treatment of carbapenamase producing<br />

enterobacteriaceae which was started by Kelly Alexander several years ago.<br />

Mark Gilchrist and Laura Whitney were editors of a new book on Antimicrobial Stewardship published by Oxford<br />

University Press. Jacqueline Sneddon, Hayley Wickens Fiona Robb, Naomi Fleming and Esmita Charani also contributed<br />

chapters of the book.<br />

Mark Gilchrist and Jacqueline Sneddon are Faculty Assessors.<br />

Several UKCPA PIN Committee members who are working towards RPS Faculty membership.<br />

Jacqueline Sneddon, Hayley Wickens and Mark Gilchrist reviewed the infection elements of the RPS Faculty/UKCPA<br />

Knowledge Interface Tool (KIT) for Advanced Core and Advanced Specialist practice, identifying areas for clarification<br />

and expansion; a review of the Foundation practice areas will follow.<br />

UKCPA PIN introduced a new Twitter hashtag for the PIN journal club (#UKCPAPINJC) in May 2016 which is being used to<br />

promote and share professional antimicrobial related information and the latest in clinical evidence.<br />

Management<br />

RPS Antimicrobial Expert Advisory Group:<br />

This group was set up in 2015 to formally respond to consultations and provide advice regarding antimicrobial<br />

related topics. The PIN Committee members that are part of this group are Jacqueline Sneddon, Philip Howard, Mark<br />

Gilchrist, Laura Whitney, Diane Harris, Hayley Wickens and Diane Ashiru-Oredope. Other PIN members include<br />

Kieran Hand, Harpal Dillon, Alison Cockburn, Esmita Charani and Paul Wade.<br />

UKCPA Pharmacy Infection Network held a Masterclass on ‘Action on Resistance’ – Tackling with antimicrobial<br />
