Expert Professional Practice & Collaborative Working Relationships<br />

Katharina Floss is representing the UKCPA at the Royal College of Anaesthetists steering committee for their National<br />

Audit Project (NAP6) on perioperative anaphylaxis.<br />

Sophie Blow and Tracy Percival are representing the UKCPA in peer reviewing the Royal College of Anaesthetists’<br />

Guidelines for the Development for the Provision of Anaesthetic Services document, on the pre-operative assessment<br />

chapter.<br />

Katharina Floss and Tracy Percival are representing the UKCPA on the advisory group for the Royal College of<br />

Anaesthetists’ Safe Anaesthesia Liaison Group. As part of this, Katharina Floss took part in a short-life working group on<br />

Safe storage of medicines.<br />

Collaboration with BMJ learning in peer reviewing an article, and subsequently helping them find pharmacists to peer<br />

review other articles.<br />

Sukeshi Makhecha, Sophie Blow and Katharina Floss commented on the 2016 GPAS document from the RCoA.<br />

Neetu Bansal has been called upon by NICE as an expert advisor on the following drug appraisals:<br />

Leadership<br />

The Group has just completed a project to provide evidence-based, best practice advice on the management of perioperative<br />

medications. The Handbook of Peri-Operative Medicines was published in late September 2016 at the Royal<br />

Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) in London, and has been endorsed by the RPS, the Royal College of Physicians and<br />

Surgeons of Glasgow, and the Pre-operative Association.<br />

Management<br />

The ongoing peri-operative medications project has involved various Committee members in organisational, writing and<br />

reviewing roles.<br />

Education, Training & Development<br />

The Group presented a Masterclass on medication in the peri-operative period in September 2016.<br />

Two sessions were also delivered at the UKCPA Conference in November 2016.<br />

Neetu Bansal and Richard Adams peer reviewed an article on surgical practice for F1 doctors published by the BMJ.<br />

Research & Evaluation<br />

None in current time period.<br />
