Holiday Parties - Camp Courageous

Camp was grateful to be invited to the
30-Anniversary of the Delmar Lions. Above
are 7 of the charter members. The Sponsoring
Club was Goose Lake. Camp has been very
grateful to the Delmar Lions Club for their
incredible support over the years. They have
been there for camp when it needed labor,
starting back in March of 1993, when we
needed supplies, can tabs, and when we
needed financial support. Most recently they
bought a plaque for $1,000 for the train.

Camp Courageous
performing for
campers!
Thank you to the Fredricksburg Lions for
inviting Camp Courageous to provide them
a program on the camp. We are willing to
go anywhere, at any time, any day, to give
programs on Camp to any group.
Thank you to Cathy Rohling and the
Wheatland Lions Club for inviting the camp
to give a program to them and for their
generous contribution and hospitality to Camp
Courageous. A wonderful group!
Dick Gholson of Mount
Pleasant has passed away.
Dick entertained thousands
over the years as “Santa”.
Dick's Santa gratuities were
always donated to Camp
Courageous. He was loved
by all and upon his death,
he wanted his memorials to go to Camp
Courageous. Our sympathy goes out to Dick's
family and friends.
It was a treat to have Ken and Bev Johnston
stop by the camp with lap robes, hats, mittens,
can tabs, and so much more. Ken was
Commander of the Iowa VFW in 1980 and
took camp on as his and VFW Auxilary State
President Marge Byam's State Project. A
wonderful couple!
A special thank you to Harold White (L) who
does an incredible job on camp's grass,
trees, and much more. Assisting Harold is his
grandson. Harold has been a volunteer and
part of the camp staff for over 20-years!
Thank you to Ray & Marilyn Overman of Mt.
Vernon for collecting a car load of items for
the camp. Long time supporters of the camp,
Ray joined Leo Greco and other veterans on
the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to see the
WWII memorial and other sites.

heartwarming check in memory of their
sister, Margaret from the Meade Family. This
wonderful family has introduced camp to many
new friends. Margaret Meade was a great
ambassador for camp in the Mt. Pleasant
area, along with their mother, Magdalen.
Marginal Note: Never miss an opportunity to make others happy, even if you have to leave them alone in order to do it.

they attended
this year's
pancake breakfast. This group has been
coming to the breakfasts for many years and
never come empty handed! Many thanks to
the Andover Lions for being such wonderful
friends of camp.

Steve carries on the tradition of supporting
camp that started with his dad, Jim, about
30-years ago. Steve has two children that use
the camp. Steve doesn’t miss an opportunity
to come to camp and see first hand the joy
that is being brought to his children, along with
100s of campers from the Mt. Pleasant area.

always have a
wonderful meal and
fellowship during their annual awards night.
Former Camp Courageous counselor, Steve
Cooper of Cedar Rapids put on a great
pre-season 5th-8th grade boys basketball
tournament to benefit Camp Courageous this
fall. A huge turn out of players and spectators.
It was a lot of work and Steve took it all on
without any concern. Look next fall for another
tournament.
