Many students have a social media account,
and they have access to many things that are
inappropriate for their age. It is important
for parents to enforce passwords and filters
to limit the amounts of inappropriate content
children can encounter online. In the same
research study, nine out of ten young
children reported that they have internet
access at home and outside of school. Many
parents do not know what their children are
doing online because they just figure it
keeps their children entertained. Most
females are into owning their mobile
devices, while males are into owning
videogames right from the very beginning of
their internet access. It is important for
teachers to have internet safety lesson plans
designed for all schools that use technology,
and the staff must be trained on internet
safety.
Students must know not to share private
information, such as full name, address,
phone number, pictures, and email address
with others on line because there are
scammers in the world that will take
advantage of that information. It is
important to address the way students should
be able to identify reliable websites because
not all websites are corrupt. Students will be
able to identify the accuracy of that
information through trusting reliable
resources such as .gov, .org, .edu, and other
scholarly journals for reliable resources.
Students will be able to have access to these
trusted resources in order to conduct
research when it comes to them working on
research papers, and even for their future
careers.
