Wissey U3A
Although most members of the U3A have retired from full-time
gainful employment, others still work part time. The talk on
Cerebral Palsey by Joan Latta in March was most informative
and well received by those present at the monthly meeting. A
lively presentation about the life of Oliver Cromwell with sound
effects follows on 6th April with the AGM being held on Thursday
4th May. Members interested in writing prose, plays or poetry
will be offered the chance of attending a Creative Writing Study
Day in June. The Annual Archery event restarts in April and this
year there will be an opportunity for members to participate in a
Clay-shooting event at Chalk Farm near Swaffham. The Bridge for
Beginners activity group is increasing in popularity and the Table
Tennis group travel to Thetford in April to take part in a friendly
U3A tournament. For details about the U3A movement go to
www.u3a.uk. More information about the Wissey U3A can be
found by visiting the Wissey Homepage at www.u3asites.org.uk/
wissey. To enquire about U3A Membership, contact either the
Membership Secretary: Stan Roberts on 01366 328086, or the
Chairman: Ian Clews on 01760 721247. Also look out for leaflets
in the Community Centre, the Green Britain Centre or Library. If
you are a ‘Third Ager’ and have just moved to the Swaffham area,
come along as a guest to one of the meetings and give the Wissey
U3A a try. Annual membership costs £10 and membership
renewal is only seven pounds.
