In Colossians 3:15 is the<br />
definite command, “Be ye<br />
thankful.” Strange that God<br />
would have to command us<br />
to give thanks.<br />
Children need to be told,<br />
“Say thank you.” We begin<br />
it as soon as they are able<br />
to understand, and usually<br />
we must continue it for<br />
many years. We want our<br />
children to be grateful and<br />
to say thank you, but so few<br />
do. Children of God need to<br />
be reminded too to say,<br />
“Thank You, Lord.” Surely<br />
there is plenty for which to<br />

Are You Thankful?<br />
One of the complaints expressed with deep sorrow by the God of<br />
Heaven is found in Romans 1:21 in three mournful words: “ ... neither<br />
were thankful.”<br />
The blessed Lord upon His throne pours out His blessings of sunshine,<br />
rain, harvest of grain, fruits and flowers, friends and fellowship; then<br />
He waits for the expression of gratitudethat should come from our<br />
hearts. Does He hear it? Does He receive it? Evidently, from the<br />
statement we have quoted, He does not.<br />
Let us not continue to hurt His heart by withholding our expressions<br />
of thanksgiving for all His wonderful love and kindness.<br />
Thankful in All Things<br />
But 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says<br />
we are to be thankful “in every<br />
thing.” In every kind of<br />
situation, be filled with<br />
thanksgiving to God.<br />
Whether in wealth or in<br />
poverty, whether in health or in<br />
sickness, whether in sunshine.<br />
or in shadow, be thankful to the<br />
God of Heaven for His precious<br />
presence, His wonderful<br />
promises and His constant care.<br />
Psalm 106:47 says we are<br />
saved and separated in order<br />
that we may give thanks to<br />
God.<br />
The ungodly never bow the<br />
head in gratitude to the God of<br />
their lives. It is those who are<br />
saved from going down to the<br />
pit and have been set apart as<br />
God’s people who are filled<br />
with thanksgiving. Surely we<br />
will not rob Him of the thanks<br />
due His name and prove to be<br />
ungrateful and unthankful to<br />
the God who has done so much<br />
for us.<br />
Those who know God are<br />
most grateful to Him. Be<br />
among that number and never<br />
let the Lord say about you, “He<br />
was not thankful.”<br />
Be Thankful in Song<br />
David’s purpose of heart is<br />
expressed in Psalm 30:12,<br />
wherein he promised and assured<br />
the people that he did never cease<br />
to be a thankful child of God. No<br />
cold blanket would ever cause his<br />
song to cease. No troubles, trials<br />
or difficulties would ever hush<br />
the song of his heart.<br />
Be Thankful Early and Late<br />
The psalmist in Psalm 119:62<br />
makes a most interesting<br />
statement about the well of<br />
gratitude springing up in his soul.<br />
He said he would rise at midnight<br />
to express his thanksgiving to<br />
God. He had retired to rest, but<br />
his spirit would not sleep.<br />
The thoughts of God’s<br />
goodness, His grace and His<br />
wonderful benevolence stirred<br />
the psalmist so deeply that he<br />
could not remain on his couch.<br />
Even though the midnight hour<br />
had come, he would rise and<br />
express to God the gladness of<br />
his soul and the gratitude of his<br />
heart. No matter how dark the<br />
·night nor how late the hour, his<br />
heart must pour out its<br />
thanksgiving to the wonderful<br />
God of his life.<br />
Thankful for All Things<br />
From Ephesians 5:20, we<br />
are to be thankful “for all<br />
things.”<br />
If He withholds good<br />
things from us, we are to<br />
say thank You. If He grants<br />
our requests, we are to say<br />
thank You., Thank Him for<br />
His gifts and for His<br />
withholdings. Be thankful<br />
for everything. God grant it may be so with all of us.

SUDOKU<br />
The rules are simple. A quick look reveals that the<br />
puzzle is a 9-by-9 grid of squares divided into<br />
nine 3-by-3 square blocks, with some of the<br />
squares filled in for you. The object is to fill in<br />
the blank squares in such a way that each<br />
of the numbers1 to 9 appears exactly<br />
once in each row, column, and block.<br />
If the puzzle has been constructed properly,<br />
there should be only one way to complete the<br />
diagram within the rules of the game.<br />
