HONESTLY HEALTHY HY BALANCE BOX
BEST FOR: Vegetarians who are
looking for flavoursome food that
isn’t a lazy meat alternative.
YOUR DAY IN FOOD: Roasted
pear and sultana Bircher muesli;
Lebanese falafel and quinoa
salad; butternut and edamame
risotto. All for 1,200 calories.
TASTE: The pears brought the
muesli up a notch, while the
risotto was creamy and therefore
felt indulgent, even though it was
packed with vitamins.
YOU FEEL: Like a proper healthy
person – but a poor one. It works
out at pretty much £10 a meal.
BUT COULD YOU BUY IT AT THE
SHOPS? Falafel in shops tends to
be dry and not so healthy, but you
could knock up a similar risotto
at home with a few shop-bought
ingredients (hello, frozen peas).
FROM £29.99 per day;
FRESH FITNESS FOOD
BEST FOR: Gym bunnies. This
plan is tailored according to how
much you work out, and each
meal is balanced with 40%
protein, 40% fat and 20% carbs.
YOUR DAY IN FOOD: Turkey
bacon, scrambled eggs and slowbaked
beans (yes, practically a
fry-up); Italian-style beef lasagne
with spring greens; tandoori
chicken with cumin-roasted veg.
TASTE: Pretty good, if a little bit
lacking in condiments.
It is tasty, but probably worth
having a pot of mustard or mayo
standing by to give it extra welly.
YOU FEEL: Smug. Youget to
eat lasagne guilt-free free. Amiracle!
BUT COULD YOU BUY IT AT THE
SHOPS? Guilt-free curry, without
a load of weird chemicals and
sugar pumped in? Not a chance.
FROM: £20 per day;
BESTFOR:
Serial snackers.
YOUR DAY IN FOOD: Lemon
yoghurt and granola with berries;
blackened Cajun chicken with
supergreen quinoa; Kerala
Malabar fish stew; salted caramel
power balls. All for 1,800 calories.
TASTE: Amazing. Every meal was
delicious. And we’re sure those
salted caramel power balls (of
which there were four) were too
good to be even vaguely healthy.
SOULMATE FOOD
YOU FEEL: Like a really, really
sorted person. It all comes in
neatly labelled Tupperware that
is enjoyable to put away, like
someone who ‘preps’ their meals.
BUT COULD YOU BUY IT AT THE
SHOPS? Each dish is too unique
to buy ready-made – but with
plenty of time, you could try to
recreate some of the recipes.
FROM: £28 per day;
BEST FOR: Ultra-clean eaters.
YOURDAYINFOOD:Two juices;
edamame beans and cucumber;
mangetout and avocado salad;
chicken with parsnips and rocket;
three super shots.
TASTE: The juices and shots were
surprisingly good – excluding
chlorella, which no amount of
designer packaging can make
taste like anything other than
pond. It’s all so fresh and good
THE DETOX KITCHEN
for you, and both the lunch and
dinner dishes were amazing.
YOU FEEL: Oh-so-healthy and,
yes, a little smug, but maybe a bit
hungry. It’s a very low-cal plan.
BUT COULD YOU BUY IT AT THE
SHOPS? The meals are pretty easy
to recreate at home, but the joy
here are the delicious dressings
unique to The Detox Kitchen.
FROM: £28.90 per day;
