THE
WOMEN
OF INDIA
A YEAR AGO, travel photographer Deepti Asthana began a project called ‘Women
of India’, documenting the inspiring stories of rural women in India. She wanted to
highlight some of the issues facing these women through the medium of
photography. She says, “I hope to bring a change in their lives by raising some of the
important issues like child marriage, lack of education and, more importantly,
providing a platform to these women. I chose photography as a medium as pictures
touch us deeply; they stir emotions and feelings and encourage us to do something
about it. And, that’s what my intention is: to make a change through visually
impacting images.”
