The NEXT Forty-eight days: ACCESS DENIED
impressed by the temple.
It is beautiful. I would like
to undertake in the first
week of October a painting
expedition and make a
painting at the temple
site. We will spend 21 days
there. The people who
will help us will be two
Cambodian boys. Two will
come with with cameras
and one is an artist.
I have a small charity
and we are hoping to
build a Children’s home
in Siem Reap. I believe the
UNESCO listing of Preah
Vihear as an important
world cultural heritage
site clearly indicates it is
part of Khymer Culture
and the sovereign land
of Cambodia. I was
incidentally short listed
for a Nobel Peace Prize
nomination some years
back.
Thank you and please
let me know what is
required to get permission
to visit the site each day to
paint. The picture would
be on an easel - maybe 2
meter square. I
would be at Preah
Vihear for 12 to 21 days.
The event will occur
around early October.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Dominic Ryan
Dominic Ryan is an Australian Artist who lives in Melbourne,
Australia. He has focussed much of his energy on innocent victims of
war. In 1995 he visited Sarajevo during the war and erected a
humanitarian billboard with an image about war and suffering in the
Destroyed House of Youth. It had the words, “WE HAVE ALL SUFFERED ENOUGH.”
The United Nations assisted him with this event. He was awarded the Liberty
Prize for Human Rights in Sarajevo by the European Union. He has visited since
that time, Cyprus and brought Mayors from the Divided City of Nicosia together
with an image of peace. He visited Kosovo during the refugee Crisis in 1999. Among
other areas he has visited are in Cambodia where he created art peace events at the
Previ-Hear Temple in the Thai-Cambodian border. In 2007 he was short-listed for a
nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. A
film is being shot in China based on his
life and art in 2012-13.
