Confessions of
a Travelholic
Yuna
She may have a law degree but Yunalis Mat Zara’ai’s passion is to
sing, write songs and become a fully-fledged entrepreneur. She began
composing music at the age of 14 and went on to perform her own
songs when she was 19. In 2012, her single ‘Live Your Life’, produced
by Pharrell Williams debuted on iTunes and she was recognised with
a National Youth Icon Award by the Prime Minister of Malaysia,
Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak. In June 2015, she was appointed
Malaysia’s tourism adviser to boost tourist arrivals in the country
alongside other Malaysian icons, Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and Datuk
Jimmy Choo. In this issue of Convergence, Yuna lets us in on her
travel tales and how it has moulded her into the person she is today.
Walking through a winter wonderland in Cappadocia
How frequently do
you travel abroad
and what are some
notable destinations?
I travel quite frequently! Mostly for
work and shows and my favourite
place so far is Cappadocia (Turkey). It
is breathtakingly beautiful!
“I spend quite a bit of time in the air
but I love exploring the world”
Besides Malaysia,
where else do you
consider home?
I guess Los Angeles. I’ve been living in
LA for 6 years now, on and off. I have a
lot of friends and I’ve really made LA my
second home now. I have plants in my
home and I’ve kept them alive for a
couple of years now... it’s a commitment!
