Related to a popular folktale told throughout
northeastern Brazil that weaves cultural threads
from indigenous Amazonian peoples,
Portuguese colonists and Catholicism, it’s an
elaborate stage production featuring parade
floats, giant puppets, hundreds of costumed
performers and lots of feathers and drums.
