Maverick Region Social Media: Our Online Presence

tireless Bill Orr!) now provides updated information
across a wide variety of platforms
to inform you, our customers, of upcoming
events and club information.
Your first stop for information should be our website:
http://mav.pca.org (note there is no” www” at the
front). But if you would rather receive information
rather than having to look for it, you can subscribe to
our calendar feed from our website, or use one of the
following methods to get the info you need!
Nearly every member receives our email blasts, or
has the opportunity to. As of May 1, we have 1,960 valid
email addresses for primary and associate members
(out of a total of 2,675 active members). If your email
address changes or you want to add your associate
member’s email address, you can do so through www.
pca.org, or by calling the PCA national office at (410)
381-0911.
The second most used resource is our Facebook
group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mavpca/.
It has about 1,200 members, though you don’t
have to be a region member, or even a PCA member
to join. It is a CLOSED group, though which means
membership requests must be approved by an admin,
and anything you post to the group will ONLY be seen
by group members – not by employees, coworkers, or
snoopy friends from high school.
Another popular Facebook group is Mavs and Mochas

It has only a little over 600 members, and is an
OPEN group, meaning friends or sometimes the general
public can see what is posted there. You must still
be approved by an admin to join, and membership in
PCA is not required.
There are very lively discussions on both of our Facebook
groups, and I would encourage everyone who has
a passing interest to check them out.
If you are only interested in event updates, and not
group discussions, you may simply “Like” our Facebook
page at https://www.facebook.com/MaverickPCA/.
No discussion there, just event notifications and information.
We do try to keep our Facebook groups advertiserfree,
and there is a Social Media Policy there which
goes into more detail about what Board Members and
vendors can do and/or say. You can read the Social Media
Policy at http://mav.pca.org/go/SocialMedia.
