at one point, Chelsea Clinton —
persuaded Donald not to overturn
President Barack Obama’s order
protecting the LGBT community
from discrimination in the workplace.
“That was all because of
them,” an insider says of the real
estate scions. “They stood strongly
and told Donald they would not tolerate
that. LGBT rights are a major
priority for them.”
Women’s issues are also huge for
Ivanka, who turned her “Women
Who Work” hashtag into a bestselling
book. She has said she
wants to create a federal paid leave
program, more affordable child
care and a global fund for female
entrepreneurs. And, according to
a family source, “she’s been taking
a lot of meetings to forward issues
she believes in, such as women in
technology and coding.”
Rounding out her list of priorities:
deportation, education and
helping Syrian refugees. The New
York Times reported that the mom
of three recently asked United Nations
ambassador Nikki R. Haley
about getting aid into the country
and — in stark contrast to her
father’s policy banning all Syrian
refugees from entering the United
States — she spoke about
the need to help in an
April interview with
NBC. “I think there is
a global humanitarian
crisis that’s happenin
she said, “and we hav
to come together, an
we have to solve it.”
Her decision to
speak out, like all
her moves, was deli
very intentional ab
gets involved,” says a family
source. “Both she and Jared left
multibillion-dollar businesses
because they want to serve and the
issues they care about are very important
to them.” Echoes the family
insider of the pair: “They represent
more liberal issues and are a necessary
balance in the White House.”
DAUGHTER DEAREST
Not to mention, Ivanka offers
a unique skill set. As Donald’s
beloved daughter, “she’s the person
he listens to more than anyone,”
says an Ivanka friend. And the
expert negotiator knows just how to
work him. “She’s learned to let him
get his outbursts off his chest and
then rationally explain other points
of view,” says the friend. Agrees the
Ivanka source, “That’s the way to
get things accomplished — not by
shouting and screaming.” Instead,
she speaks calmly but
directly. “Where I disagree
with my father, he knows
t,” she told Gayle King
nanApril5interview.
AndIexpressmyselfwith
total candor.”
And should she fail to
bringhimtoherside,she
doesn’t wallow in defeat.
“I’ll go to the mat on certain
issues and I may still lose
those,” she explained to The
The First
Grandkids!
Things got
wild during
a March 26
trip to the
zoo with
her trio.
Ivanka called
meeting the Pope
(in Italy’s Vatican
City May 24) “an
incredible honor.”
