• The other GREAT advantage of 7B is that churches don’t become interested in evangelism by chance. Their interest and passion for it must be awakened. PHASE THREE: YOU AND YOUR PASTOR FORMULATE A UNIQUE PLAN FOR YOUR CHURCH. This is the all important “how to” or “where to from here?” Phase 3 is where the real exciting stuff happens! We have mapped out a whole year of planning for you. • It’s called THE ESI ONE YEAR PLAN. • This is a very specific, practical, step by step plan to show you how to mobilise 100% of your people into evangelism. • As the ETL you are provided with a 77 page guide (the EVANGELISM TEAM LEADER’S GUIDE) which unpacks the ESI ONE YEAR PLAN. • Inside this guide are 12 specific, practical strategies which you as the ETL will implement over a 12 month period. • Most churches will already have a year plan, so it’s at this stage you and your pastor will sit down to see how much of the ESI ONE YEAR PLAN you can integrate into the existing church plan. You’ll also weave into this plan some of your own ideas. Together, you’ll come up with a new unique plan for your church. NB: The more of the 12 strategies from the ESI ONE YEAR PLAN you include in the new plan, the faster you’ll reach the goal and achieve a DNA change. To come up with this unique plan, the following are some of the key strategies to be negotiated. • Will the church leader allow you to have a 5-10 minute “evangelism slot” (marked at “ES” on the ESI ONE YEAR PLAN) on Sunday mornings every 2 weeks to motivate, encourage, role play, inform, inspire the church etc for evangelism? • In between weeks, will he allow a 3 minute evangelism testimony (ET)? • Will he allow a DNA change conference in his church once a year? • Can you run a teaching series on evangelism for your Eteam & for those who want it? Negotiate when and with whom. • Would your church leader be open to using the teaching slides which are used in the DNA change conference on Sunday mornings? • Will the church leader make your ETL role official in the church? • Will he/she give the ETL profile and a budget? • What parts of the NEW ONE YEAR PLAN will he allow you to organise and run without further reference to him? • Will your pastor agree on an outreach plan to reach every person in your town/suburb with the gospel? The new and unique one year plan you come up with will become the one the whole church works to in the coming year (s) until “the goal” is reached. Once it’s finalised, regularly report on plans, progress, struggles, challenges, resourcing etc to your church leader. This plan will likely be constantly tweaked as you progress on your journey towards achieving the goal. 20 Version 1:8
PHASE ONE PHASE TWO PHASE THREE IF YOUR CHURCH HAS HAD NO CONTACT WITH EVANGELISM STRATEGIES INTERNATIONAL, WHAT DO YOU DO? THE HOLY SPIRIT IS STIRRING YOU TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE APPALLING STATE OF THE GREAT COMMISSION IN THE WEST i.e. only 2% of Christians are now active in evangelism. Step 1: Attend a "Change The DNA Of Your Church" Saturday conference or go and hear the content of the DNA change conference via a series 4-5 messages in a someone else's church on Sunday mornings. STEP 2: Read Julian Batchelor's book (JBB) "Evangelism: Strategies From Heaven In the War For Souls." STEP 4: Go to your leader to request a Pre-DNA change meeting STEP 5: Your pastor agrees to host a pre-dna change meeting at your church. STEP 6: You are appointed as the ETL. You begin to be coached by one of the ESI coaches. EITHER STEP 7A: your pastor agrees to host a ODC and then follows up by teaching the content of the ODC to the rest of the church over 4-5 Sundays STEP 3: Become familiar with the document you are reading now. OR STEP 7B: Your pastor agrees to have the content of the ODC taught as a series over 4-5 Sundays at your church STEP 8: You and your pastor integrate the ESI ONE YEAR PLAN with your existing church plan plus your own ideas to come up with a new and unique church plan. STEP 9: Continue to work the plan for as long as it takes to achieve "the goal". This plan will probably need to be tweaked as you journey towards the goal. STEP 10: 4 years later every member of your church will be spreading or proclaiming the gospel at least once a week, and your church will be flourishing! 21 Version 1:8
