(q 1) At the occasion of a celebration, a sculpture of profane exterior is adorned with a white<br />

headdress (as worn <strong>by</strong> officiat<strong>in</strong>g pamangkus and their helpers) and polèng cloth; the temporary<br />

altar <strong>in</strong> front of him gives room for many offer<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

(s 1) Rarègèk, a spookish creation, made of plaited palmleaves, used at the celebration of a<br />

ba<strong>by</strong>'s hav<strong>in</strong>g reached the age of 3 × 5 × 7 = 105 days = half an oton (year) of 210 days. Perhaps<br />

none of the other dozen or so rites de passage is be<strong>in</strong>g celebrated with so much gusto and so<br />

much variation. The rarègèk is only known from North <strong>Bali</strong>.<br />

(s 2) The sok suddha mala is plentifully provided with offer<strong>in</strong>gs on top.<br />

(s 3) The ba<strong>by</strong> under (the protection of) the sok suddha mala for the first time <strong>in</strong> his life is made<br />

to touch Mother Earth.
