The German High Command had selected several lines upon which<br />

1. A line ~Ietz-Mezieres-the Meuse and to the .'\orth, co\-ering<br />
Brussels and Antwerp.<br />
2. The line of the Meuse protected hy two ri\-ers-the Loison and<br />
the Meuse, which was forty kilometers shorter than the first.<br />
3. A line coyering the German frontier and the western frontier<br />
of Luxembourg, which was seyenty kilometers shorter than the<br />
second line.
