The telephone will not be used before the day of the attack by units<br />
of the sector below the regiment. All telephone conversations by superior<br />
units will be strictly controlled, and must not in any way disclose the plans<br />
and intentions of the Command.<br />
Trial and adjustment fire will be limited, and even omitted whenever<br />
possible.<br />
b. The artillery preparation for the attack should be reduced to a<br />
minimum, and the hour of the attack must be calculated so that the gaps<br />
that may be produced in the last organized line may be before noon of J<br />
day. The delay prior to the approach must be as brief as possible.<br />
c. Advantage must be taken of any gaps made, and the advance will<br />
take place during the night of J to J plus 1 day, so that the operations<br />
against the desired objectivesmay be carried out on the morning of J plus 1<br />
